What Is a Car Lease?
When you lease a vehicle, you're essentially paying to use it for a set period of time, which is typically 24 to 36 months, rather than purchasing it outright. Think of it like renting an apartment instead of buying a house. You make monthly payments, enjoy the vehicle, and at the end of the term, you return it to us. Alternatively, you may have the option to finance the remaining cost and keep the vehicle for your El Cajon travels.
How Are Lease Payments Calculated?
Your monthly payment is based on the capitalized cost, residual value, and money factor. The capitalized cost is the agreed-upon selling price of the vehicle. The lower this number, the lower your payment. The residual value is what the car is projected to be worth at the end of the lease. Mileage and Wear
Standard Honda leases come with an annual mileage allowance, which is usually 10,000, 12,000, or 15,000 miles per year. If you have a long I-8 commute and go over that limit, you'll pay a per-mile fee at the end of the term. We'll work with you upfront to choose the right mileage package so there are no surprises later. Normal wear and tear is expected. However, excessive dents, interior damage, or worn tires beyond standard use may result in end-of-lease charges. We always recommend a pre-return inspection so you know exactly where you stand.
At the End of the Lease
When your lease term concludes, you have a few options. You can return the vehicle and lease a brand-new Honda, purchase the vehicle at the pre-agreed residual price, or simply walk away.
