Deciding between similar compact SUVs can make shopping complicated, but our Honda of El Cajon Superstore staff can point you in the right direction. If you’ve been considering the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid and the 2023 Hyundai TUCSON Hybrid, read this article. This short overview explains the differences between these automobiles and why Honda’s version is more suitable for you.
Performance
Although the 2023 CR-V Hybrid and TUCSON Hybrid are in the same vehicle class, they have different engines. The CR-V Hybrid has a 2.0L 4-cylinder powertrain that cranks out 145 horsepower¹ and 138 lb.-ft. of torque². Meanwhile, the TUCSON Hybrid sports a 1.6L 4-cylinder turbo system with 180 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque. Both of these vehicles also have electric motors. Investing in the Honda CR-V Hybrid has a High-Torque Traction mechanism, which produces 181 horsepower and 247 lb.-ft. of torque, but Hyundai’s electric system has 59 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque. Each of these automobiles has a lithium-ion battery that builds a charge as you drive down roads like Fletcher Parkway.
Fuel Economy
When it comes to efficiency, the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid towers over the 2023 Hyundai TUCSON Hybrid. If you’re driving the CR-V Hybrid, you’ll have a standard Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission 2WD that has a 43/36/40 city/hwy/combined³ fuel rating. But if you’re piloting a trim level with Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission AWD, your estimated mileage of 40/34/37 city/hwy/combined³. The TUCSON Hybrid has a rating of 38/38/38 MPG city/hwy/combined⁴. If you get the TUCSON Hybrid SEL Convenience and Limited, the gas mileage of 37/36/37 MPG city/hwy/combined⁴. While these models are well-equipped to drive along Highway 8, the CR-V Hybrid can travel farther without you stopping frequently at the pump.
Technology
Innovation is a significant factor that the CR-V Hybrid and TUCSON Hybrid share. Apple CarPlay®⁵ and Android Auto™⁶ are engineered in each vessel. Depending on the iteration, these features may be wireless. Also, both automobiles can hold up to five passengers, but their cargo volume varies. When the 60/40 split fold-down seats are engaged, you’ll be able to make use of the 76.5 cubic ft. of room⁷ in the 2023 CR-V Hybrid. However, using this feature in the 2023 TUCSON Hybrid only provides 74.5 cubic ft. of cargo volume⁸. So if you have a lot of travel accessories, Honda's compact SUV may be a better choice to drive. That way, you’ll have plenty of space as you’re traveling along East Washington Avenue. For answers to frequently asked questions, contact us online.

“ The sell manager name Bashier he’s the best guy out there I even call him he helps me with my car service too out there, thank you so much ”
“ I brought my car to Honda because the air conditioning was no longer blowing cold. Steven explained that the issue could be either the condenser or the heat exchanger and mentioned that diagnosing the heat exchanger would typically cost around $100. Since I was hesitant to pay for both diagnostics, I initially asked to have only the condenser checked. To my surprise, Steven went above and beyond and had the technician inspect both components at no additional charge, which I truly appreciated. Unfortunately, both the condenser and the heat exchanger needed to be replaced, with an initial estimate close to $3,000. Once again, Steven stepped in and worked with his manager and the technicians to reduce the total cost to roughly $2,200. Steven understood that this was a significant expense and did everything he could to make it more manageable for me. Throughout the entire process, he was patient, thorough, and happy to answer all of my questions. He never made me feel rushed, pressured, or like I was wasting his time, nor did he push unnecessary repairs. It genuinely felt like he had my best interests in mind, and I can’t thank him enough for that. Anyone in need of service or repairs at Honda of El Canon should ask for Steven—he’s the best! ”
“ The service department at Honda of El Cajon is amazing. Our service technician is Mustafa, aka Moose. He is always friendly and helpful. ”
